Fenton
Physical Therapy, Linden Physical
Therapy, and Milford Physical
Therapy offer the most up to
date treatment procedures to their
physician referred patients. The newest program is a manual therapy technique for the
treatment of soft tissue problems.
ASTYM AdvantEDGE™ has been designed to
break down malaligned scar tissue and
promote the development of new tissue
that will permit pain free motion and
return to functional activity.
Therapists using ASTYM AdvantEDGE™
techniques must receive specialized
training and certification.
Our ASTYM certified Physical
Therapists provide treatment when
referred by their physician.
In some cases, ASTYM AdvantEDGE™
may be suggested when more traditional
therapies are not alleviating the
patient’s problem.
Specialized instruments are used to
glide along the patient’s skin.
When the instrument comes into
contact with scar tissue, both the
patient and the therapist can feel the
restriction.
The instruments are then used to
“catch” the abnormal tissue,
irritate the scar, and cause
inflammation.
This creates a healing response
that tells the body to send in cells to
clean up the area and make repairs.
The old scar tissue is removed,
and new tissue is laid down to allow
return to the patient’s normal
activity without pain or limitation of
motion.
Our
offices are the
first
clinics in Michigan to offer the ASTYM
AdvantEDGE™ method.
Our ASTYM certified Physical
Therapists participate in ongoing
research that has demonstrated the
validity of this treatment technique.
We strive to bring our patients
the most innovative and comprehensive in
Physical Therapy care.
